English Ivy (Hedra helix)- Mentioned in II Maccabees 6:7. English ivy has large, dark leaves. It performs best in deep shade and is drought tolerant. Its height is 8 - 12" at maturity. The Bible states that ivy grew "where God has walked," calling to mind that God "walked at paradise in the afternoon air" (Genesis 3:8).
