Bible Garden Construction
Mary gardens, which are gardens dedicated to the Virgin Mary, require a design scheme unlike that of the Bible garden. Bible gardens do not seem to have a traditional way of being designed. The concentration is solely on the types of individual plants and making sure that these plants are mentioned in the Bible.
Most of the plants that are mentioned in the Bible are from lands surrounding the Mediterranean Sea. So, it is quite easy to create a Bible garden in Southern California, but it is much more difficult in most parts of the United States.
When designing a Bible garden, not only keep in mind the idea of concentration on the types of plants being used, but also focus on if the garden will be used strictly for display purposes or for mediation. Groups and individuals can use the garden to study the Bible in, as well for personal contemplation and meditation. To create an accurate garden, one would make certain that it contains the seven plants which are mentioned in Deuteronomy 8:8. These seven species are wheat (Triticum durum), barley (Hordeum vulgare), vine (Vitis vinifera), fig (ficus carica), pomegranate (Punica granatum), Olive (Olea europaea), date/palm tree (Phoenix dactylifera), and fig (Ficus carica). Many sources of state to include a cedar of Lebanon too. These plants are the most important in a Bible garden, but additional space will be required to expand the collection.
As you can see, gardening can be a prayerful art. A Bible garden may require extensive researching, but in the end you will reap the solitude and peacefulness of it.
